GROW AND GIVE BACK HOLIDAY DRIVE

BE A VOLUNTEER

helping spread joy

The Grow and Give Back Holiday Drive is a tradition that strives to give families within our community a complete holiday experience! It is an excellent opportunity to connect with the community. Year after year, volunteers write in to tell us how impactful their experience was. This is why we often communicate that this program is a launching pad for building authentic relationships while bringing joy to families and children. Through the joy of shopping, wrapping, and delivering gifts, your team will have a chance to grow, bond, and be inspired to by the spirit of giving and community engagement. All you have to do is sign-up and show up for the event kick-off at 8 AM on December 9th at Austin Oaks Church (Austin, TX) and Bryan Independent School District Admin Building (Bryan, TX).

what to expect

The 2023 Grow and Give Back Holiday Drive projects to sponsor 1,000 students. To facilitate the program, GJ will be working to source volunteers. Volunteers can expect to enter a high-energy, inviting space brimming with hope, joy, and anticipation. Doors open at 8 AM on December 9th with festive music, breakfast, check-in, and event kickoff at 8:30 AM. Upon registering, volunteers will receive their family packet. Family packets are digital or physical folders containing all the materials for the event, such as family contact information, shopping list, and meal voucher. Most volunteers will be expected to SHOP, WRAP, AND DELIVER gifts to their assigned families. If a volunteer cannot fulfill any of the tasks outlined, please notify info@givejoyfoundation.org.

  • Volunteers are encouraged to dress comfortably. During check-in, you will be provided an event t-shirt. All volunteers are asked to wear their shirts to help sponsored families identify you.

  • Shopping locations are assigned by Team GiveJoy. A list of shopping sites as well as a budget will be included in your family packet.

Volunteers will use marked registers hosted by GiveJoy to checkout.

Shopping assignments are typically 1 child per 1 adult. Any adult (18 yo+) in your group will likely be assigned a child to shop for.

Solo volunteers may be asked to pair with another volunteer to ensure all families are covered.

  • Volunteers will return to the event site after shopping. GiveJoy will have wrapping stations set up for use. Additional volunteers will be on-site to assist with wrapping as well.

  • After all, items are wrapped and packed. Volunteers will collect (1) food bag for their family and deliver the items. This concludes the drive for the volunteer. However, volunteers may return to the event site to assist with breakdown and cleanup.

If any items are undeliverable, volunteers will return the items to the event site for later delivery.

MORE OPPORTUNITIES

Since our inception, The GiveJoy Foundation has donated over a quarter million dollars to schools and provided meals, toys, and, most importantly, joy to thousands of children and their families. We are proud of the work we have completed in Bryan, TX, and have begun to spread the joy to Austin. To assist our expansion, we are accepting partners with our giving campaign titled #JoyGivers.

Through #JoyGivers, GiveJoy is building a network capable of raising a minimum of $100,000 and looking for corporate partners and supporters like you to help match this effort.
