Why School Supplies?
Given the economic strength of central Texas and the influx of businesses and people to the area, many students and their families struggle to secure daily resources. Often, families find themselves unable to afford basic school supplies. In 2021, The National Retail Federation reported that households with school-aged children would average more than $840 on school supplies this year. It also projected the total back-to-school spending would be $37.1 billion.
Households can expect to pay $80 to $120 for supplies and backpacks per student. With inflation rising, the 2022-2023 school year will continue to be challenging for families. For some, going back to school shopping is an exciting part of the educational experience. Our drive aims to restore that joy while financially relieving parents and teachers.
How can you help?
There are multiple ways you can make an impact:
Sponsor a backpack and shoes or JoyBox.
Each backpack is stuffed with needed resources requested by teachers.
Start a student off on the right foot with a new pair of shoes.
Fight food insecurity by providing a student with a snack box for use in school or after-school programs.
Share the donate page. Please share your support of the drive via social channels or email, which can be accessed @ Back 2 School Drive Donations.
The drive will end on July 26th! GiveJoy will work with local partners like Nutrabolt and Arrive Logistics to capture media of the packed and delivered supplies. Please follow our social channels for more!
